This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Criminal Intelligence online training courses for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Many federal, state, and local enforcement agencies are implementing an Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) philosophy, which focuses on the accurate collection, analysis and dissemination of information to both their own agency members and other consumers. Although Criminal Intelligence (CI) is part of this approach, CI is not the only product produced.
Officers performing their daily functions typically collect, review, and disseminate information each day, and this is only one step removed from using this data as part of an effective intelligence cycle.  This course brings into clearer focus how  intelligence led programs improve employee and agency performance while participating in intelligence sharing with other enforcement agencies.

Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Criminal Interview, Interrogation, & Confessions Techniques #387020 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Custodial interrogation of suspects and the statements and confessions that are elicited are vitally important in the development of criminal cases.  However, to be admissible as evidence, statements and confessions must be given freely, voluntarily, and with due consideration for the suspect’s right to silence and right to counsel.
This course focuses on what you as the investigator can and CANNOT do during interrogations to ensure that the due process rights of suspects are followed. This course also provides several interrogation techniques that are effective throughout the law enforcement profession. You will also learn the strengths and weaknesses of each technique.
You will have access to various case studies that will reinforce your understanding of various concepts and legal decisions governing your suspect’s interrogation.

Criminal investigations often begin at the location(s) where the crime was committed. Criminal investigators must be able to identify and collect items of evidentiary value left at the crime scene, in order to better piece together events surrounding the crime, and to identify perpetrators and sometimes victims. These steps are often the most important efforts undertaken by patrol officers and investigators in efforts to identify, arrest, and successfully prosecute offenders. Failure of law enforcement agencies to establish an effective and efficient crime scene management system can have severe results and may even include civil or criminal charges against crime scene personnel. Therefore, it is essential that all officers and investigative personnel have a solid understanding of professionally accepted crime scene protocols, in order that their agency can take full advantage of today's more sophisticated laboratory techniques and technologies. The basis for a successful and efficient crime scene investigation is within the grasp of any law enforcement agency, no matter the size.

This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Crisis Communications for Emergency Telecommunicators #2120 online training course offered for Texas Telecommunicators.

The Crisis Communications course is designed to enhance the skills and preparedness of emergency telecommunicators (dispatchers) who serve as the first line of response in critical incidents. As a key requirement for the Intermediate Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification, this course provides both foundational knowledge and advanced strategies for managing high-stakes calls involving emotional distress, threats to life, and rapidly evolving situations.

With approximately 85% of the U.S. population covered by a 9-1-1 system—and 99% of adults in these areas aware of its use—telecommunicators are increasingly confronted with complex and emotionally charged calls. Factors such as rising rates of domestic violence, mental health crises, terrorism-related fears post-9/11, and heightened public expectations contribute to this demanding environment.

• This course addresses those challenges by focusing on:
• Techniques for managing emotionally distressed callers
• Communication strategies in crisis and high-tension situations
• Legal and ethical considerations for dispatchers
• The role of the telecommunicator in multi-agency emergency response
• Stress management and resilience for first-responder support staff

The movement toward more egalitarian relationships between men and women has had a major impact on our cultural patterns of behavior, even though our society’s patriarchal view still has tremendous influence on gender perceptions and roles. For example, most all cultures treat boys and girls differently from birth. Because of this cultural diversity, the different genders tend to have different experiences, expectations, worldviews, and interests.

Awareness of gender diversities can help us understand why men and women often see things differently, and avert possible miscommunications as a result of these natural and societal differences.
