Overview

This is an OSS Academy® Communicator & Dispatch Basics online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Are you a new Telecommunicator struggling with the basics of public safety dispatching? Have you been a public safety Telecommunicator long enough that you’re feeling you’ve just forgotten some of the basics you learned when you began dispatching? This course focuses on the basics of dispatching – the telephone, the radio, the people – and how to effectively deal with each. Officers will find this course beneficial in better understanding challenges facing the person at the other end of your life-line.

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Communicator & Dispatch Basics online training course for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

This is an  OSS Academy® National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System [NLETS] online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

The National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) is the officer's primary nationwide method by which law enforcement officers inquire and report such information as driver's license data, vehicle, boat, and aircraft  registration, and other information.

This course is designed to introduce you to the system and to give you a basic understanding of its history, structure, and functions, along with basic guidelines for radio and NLETS messaging.
