Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Cultural Diversity in the Workplace online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Diversity is a concept that focuses on a broader set of qualities than race and gender. It is a people issue, focusing on the differences and similarities that people bring to an occupational organization, such as law enforcement.

In the law enforcement workplace, valuing diversity means creating a workplace that respects and includes differences, unique contributions that individuals with varying differences can make, and working to create an environment that maximizes the potential of employees, while not diminishing accomplishment of the mission.

Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

Cybercrime Investigations Package
Long Course Description

Course Number
OSS-CCIPKG-INV

Price (Shown in U.S. Dollars)
50.00

Overview

This is an OSS Academy® Cybercrime Investigations online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

NOTE: This is not the Cybercrime Investigator Certification #3210 (TCOLE) course. OSS Academy does not currently offer the #3210 course. This is not a TCOLE accredited course.

Cybercrime is an emerging trend that is rapidly growing in scope and frequency. Worldwide, this type of crime is the leading means for fraud. Most officers are not prepared to deal with cybercrime due to the complex and intricate nature of the investigations, as well as the rapid advancement of new technology. Our society continues to become more and more plugged in, and the public expects law enforcement to keep pace with how new technology affects the investigative process, and by extension, crime in general.

Topics to be covered include many aspects of cybercrime with the understanding that as the technology progresses, so do the methods by which cyber criminals ply their trade. This course is designed to get the student to think outside of the box and to seek further education through attendance of specialized courses. A cybercrime investigator may focus on a specific area after learning basic theory and procedures. This course provides a solid foundation from which to build your techniques, develop an understanding of digital evidence, and acquire the tools and processes necessary for consistent results.

This course was created to provide peace officers with an understanding of some of the types of crimes they will encounter in their communities as well as the process for their investigation. Our academy staff is especially grateful to the law enforcement and corrections professionals that contributed to the development of this important course.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive thirty (30) hours of course credit.

Enforcement officers are in daily contact with all types of people. Considering that nearly 10% of the U.S. population has some sort hearing loss, it is reasonable to assume that some of those contacts would be with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, especially with the baby boomers reaching their senior years. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), people who are deaf or hard of hearing should receive the same services provided to the other 90% of the population. This means that officers interacting with these individuals should reasonably accommodate their communications needs.

This course is intended for Peace Officers who may come in contact with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The content of this course intentionally goes beyond mere traffic stops interactions.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit.
