Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Tattoos and Criminal Gangs #3283 online training course offered for peace officers Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Tattoos are an excellent tool for peace and corrections officers to identify known or suspected gang members. This course includes examples of tattoos worn by predominantly homegrown and international gangs operating in the US, Canada, and along our porous southern border. Can you read tattoos? The ability to recognize and manage those they encounter with gang tattoos is just as critical.
In this course, we explore gang backgrounds, including the history of tattooing, the process of getting a tattoo, and tattoo mistakes. We then continue our journey by examining homegrown gangsters, their development, modes of operation, and tattoos.
Our focus then turns to international gangs that heavily impact crime in the US and Canada and their tattoos. These include Hells Angles, the Mexican Mafia, Mexican Cartels, MS13, the Aryan Brotherhood, and the Russian Mafia, ending with the Chinese Triad Mafia. Within each criminal gang, we will explore its developmental background, methods of operations, and prominent tattoos.
Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit.

Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated TDD/TTY for Telecommunicators #3812 (TCOLE) [OSS Option 1] online training course offered for Texas Telecommunicators.
The hearing and speech impaired often use a communication system called TTY [Text Teletypewriter or Text Telephone] to communicate over conventional or cell phones. Also in common use are TDD [Telecommunications Device for the Deaf]. In practical terms TTY and TDD are used interchangeably and refer to any type of text-based telecommunications equipment used by a person who does not have enough functional hearing to understand speech, even with amplification.
Texas Telecommunicators have a unique requirement to complete variations of the TDD/TTY for Telecommunicators #3812 course every six months. Stay tuned ~ February 2019 as OSS Academy® is developing and will be offering TDD/TTY for Telecommunicators #3812 (TCOLE) [OSS Option 2] which will enhance the adult learning process with new creative course materials.
As technology advances, smartphones are an increasing popular way for the hearing impaired to communicate. However, when that is not an option [for example, calling 911] the primary way to communicate is through a TTY system or a relay service. It is important for you to understand how these systems work in order to communicate efficiently with someone who is hearing or speech impaired. If there are abbreviations or technical terms that are unfamiliar to you, be sure to check the glossary included with this course.
Please note, the entire course (including any applicable course parts), final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit.

The Occupations Code, Section 1701.252, stipulates that before a training program can be licensed, the school must have an advisory board for developing curriculum. Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Traffic Control Operations #3040 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Traffic control safety procedures are vital to your duties as a law enforcement officer and for other first responders. Whether you’re on duty working a major collision or providing road safety warnings, you must be able to recall and implement road safety guidelines when there is a major traffic accident and, just as necessary, know how to provide upstream warnings to oncoming traffic.
Your duty on the roadway and during incidents is to improve safety for victims, responders, motorists, and pedestrians. In this course, we work with you to understand how peace officers and other responders interact to implement Highway Incident Work Zone procedures.
We know that the secondary collisions and injuries in high-speed traffic are often more severe than the original incident. It is critical that we all recognize and plan against high risks of exposure in or near accident recovery sites.
Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit.
