This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)  elective Gangs - An Introduction online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

This course is an introduction to the nature of gangs, the types of gangs you may encounter, and basic instruction in dealing with gangs and gang members. In 2005 the National Alliance of Gang Investigators Association conducted a study and concluded, ...once found principally in large cities, violent street gangs now affect public safety, community image, and quality of life in communities of all sizes in urban, suburban, and rural areas. No region of the United States is untouched by gangs. Gangs affect society at all levels, causing heightened fears for safety, violence, and economic costs.

Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Hate & Bias Crimes online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Investigating hate and bias crimes is of great importance to law enforcement and the community today.  These crimes  are on an alarming rise, and for law enforcement, it will require resources, skills, and expertise, as well as collaborations with prosecutors, the courts, the community, and the media, to ensure the civil rights of the accused as well as the safety and welfare of its victims. This course will define hate crimes from both a historical and a law enforcement operational perspective and provide you with a general overview of hate crimes and victim classes in the United States today. The course will also discuss political and religious justifications used by offenders when committing crimes of hate against protected classes of victims. This course will also provide you with general investigative guidelines and offender profile information.

This Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective online Hazardous Materials & HAZMAT Investigations #3806 training course is offered by OSS Academy® for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

The threat from HazMat accidents and deliberate acts of terrorism is very real, especially for officers who must go in harm’s way. This course includes vital information that can save your life and the lives of those you are sworn to protect. This course contains information developed by the CIA, University of Texas Medical Branch, and a Nuclear Weapons Deployment Officer. Special attention is paid to providing you with a workable understanding of the threat posed by chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials, whether you encounter these threats while responding to a roadway accident or terrorist attack. Upon completion, you will be able to research CBRNe hazards, recognize placards and warning documents, define HazMat zones, apply donning and doffing of personal protection equipment, participate in a decontamination exercise, and much more.

Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Homeland Security: Counter-Terrorism online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

In August 2004, the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC) was incorporated into the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) by Executive Order 13354, and the NCTC’s authorities were codified in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA). NCTC has the statutory responsibility to serve as the central and shared knowledge bank on known and suspected terrorists and international terror groups, as well as their goals, strategies, capabilities, and networks of contacts and support. To fulfill this role, NCTC maintains the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE), the U.S. Government’s central classified repository for all known or suspected international terrorists and their networks of contacts and support.

Developed in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this course addresses the various threats posed to the United States both externally and internally. In particular, we cover response tactics and safety considerations to apply when responding to an incident involving an active shooter, improvised explosive device, or bomber.

Special attention is given to safety and security measures to consider when encountering an active shooter or planning first responder actions for terrorism-related incidents at educational facilities, stadiums and arenas, special events in a city or community, airport security, U.S. ports, mass transit infrastructure, and hotels and high-rise buildings.
