Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Human Trafficking #3270 course offered in an online training course format for Texas Peace Officers.

Human trafficking and modern-day slavery are very real problems for the most vulnerable people on the planet, and this includes men, women, and children. The United Nations protocol defines human trafficking as the illegal trade of human beings, through abduction, the use, or threat, of force, deception, fraud, or sale for the purposes of sexual exploitation or forced labor. For many jurisdictions, trafficking in human life, like so many other issues becomes a local enforcement issue due primarily to nations failing to adequately enforce their borders. It is not different in the United States and your state. In this course we define and discuss human trafficking from the global and local enforcement perspective, discuss the various types of trafficking, and probe the legal and investigative elements of these crimes.

Please note, the entire course (including any applicable course parts), final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit.

Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Impairment Other than Alcohol #6011 online training course for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

While alcohol remains the most commonly abused substance among impaired drivers, law enforcement officers must also recognize that many other substances, and certain medical conditions, can significantly impair an individual’s ability to operate a vehicle safely.

This course prepares officers to identify and respond appropriately to individuals who may be impaired by drugs or underlying medical conditions. Participants will examine the wide range of observable signs, symptoms, and behaviors associated with non-alcohol impairment. Some indicators may closely resemble alcohol impairment, while others present distinctly different characteristics.

Emphasis is placed on enhancing observational skills, improving decision-making, and recognizing when medical intervention or specialized support is necessary. Officers will also review the role of the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and understand when to request DRE assistance to ensure safe, lawful, and accurate outcomes.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive six (6) hours of course credit.

Overview

This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Informant Recruitment & Management #2018 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

A primary function of undercover operations is to recruit confidential human sources, also known as informants. One objective of placing an undercover officer in a criminal organization is to identify players in that enterprise. A close circle of trusted lieutenants typically insulates an enterprise’s highest-level operators. However, every enterprise has its weak links, and every organization has its secrets. The mission now becomes flipping a source that can provide information to expose those operations.

In this course we examine and provide methods for recruiting and cultivating an informant, precautions to take when doing so, and how to get the most out of the information a source provides.

Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive sixteen (16) hours of course credit.
