Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Criminal Investigations online training course for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Criminal investigations often begin at the location(s) where the crime was committed. Criminal investigators must be able to identify and collect items of evidentiary value left at the crime scene, in order to better piece together events surrounding the crime, and to identify perpetrators and sometimes victims. These steps are often the most important efforts undertaken by patrol officers and investigators in efforts to identify, arrest, and successfully prosecute offenders. Failure of law enforcement agencies to establish an effective and efficient crime scene management system can have severe results and may even include civil or criminal charges against crime scene personnel. Therefore, it is essential that all officers and investigative personnel have a solid understanding of professionally accepted crime scene protocols, in order that their agency can take full advantage of today's more sophisticated laboratory techniques and technologies. The basis for a successful and efficient crime scene investigation is within the grasp of any law enforcement agency, no matter the size.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit.

Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Crisis Communications for Emergency Telecommunicators #2120 online training course offered for Texas Telecommunicators.
The Crisis Communications course is designed to provide additional information required to become a more proficient emergency telecommunicator. This course is one of the required courses for obtaining an Intermediate Certificate.
Today, approximately 85% of the U.S. is covered by a 9-1-1 system. It is estimated that 99% of the adults living in these covered regions are aware that they should dial “9-1-1” in the event of a crisis situation or medical emergency. Emergency telecommunicators (also referred to as “dispatchers”) are experiencing an ever-increasing volume of calls and many of those calls involving some type of critical incident. Various factors such as a rise in domestic violence and other troubling issues, “post 9/11”, higher public expectations, and more have caused this increase.
Please note, the entire course (including any applicable course parts), final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive twenty-four (24) hours of course credit.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Cultural Challenges Among Genders online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Men and women literally live in parallel, but different, worlds.
-Deborah Tannon
The movement toward more egalitarian relationships between men and women has had a major impact on our cultural patterns of behavior, even though our society’s patriarchal view still has tremendous influence on gender perceptions and roles. For example, most all cultures treat boys and girls differently from birth. Because of this cultural diversity, the different genders tend to have different experiences, expectations, worldviews, and interests.
Awareness of gender diversities can help us understand why men and women often see things differently, and avert possible miscommunications as a result of these natural and societal differences.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Cultural Challenges Among Generations online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Every generation is influenced by the economic, political, and social events of their respective eras. From the Great Depression to the civil rights movement, from the inception of the television to advanced computer technologies, all have affected they way we work, play, and live. Understanding the differences among the generations can be helpful to officers.
A generation is a group of people within a society delineated by age boundaries. Researchers refer to this as a generational cohort, defining these as a set of peers, rather than a specific family generation. People in a cohort share similar experiences, values, and attitudes. These carry over from the formative years to work-related issues.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Cultural Diversity in the Workplace online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Diversity is a concept that focuses on a broader set of qualities than race and gender. It is a people issue, focusing on the differences and similarities that people bring to an occupational organization, such as law enforcement.
In the law enforcement workplace, valuing diversity means creating a workplace that respects and includes differences, unique contributions that individuals with varying differences can make, and working to create an environment that maximizes the potential of employees, while not diminishing accomplishment of the mission.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.
