This is an OSS Academy® Leadership in Law Enforcement online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
When the geographical areas of the patrol beat become far larger than that of the scope of the patrol officer, or when the problems encountered cannot be solved at the beat level, then law enforcement leadership must take the lead role in making organizational and philosophical changes that allow all stakeholders in the problem, the tools they need to reduce and or eliminate the problems that are occurring. Law enforcement leadership must take pause and determine if current operational philosophies must be changed, revised, eliminated, or added, which will give patrol officers problem-solving tools that will enable them to collaborate with community members on their beats.
This course offers law enforcement leadership the tools to evaluate the agency culture, then make cultural changes that allow patrol officers to creatively solve community problems. In this course, you will be exposed to how law enforcement leadership plays a pivotal role in the agency’s ability to bring together local governmental authorities and departments with the people in collaborative efforts to eliminate community problems in both the real world and cyber communities.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.
