TCOLE Suicide Detection and Prevention in Jails #3501 Now Online
By Jamie Aldridge, LE Powerhouse | Wed, 16 Jul 2014
OSS Academy® is proud to announce the launching of the new Texas Commission on Law Enforcement [TCOLE] Suicide Detection and Prevention in Jails #3501 online training course offered for Texas Jailers.
It is crucial for jailers to understand suicide detection and prevention in jails because inmates are at a significantly higher risk of suicide due to the stressful and isolating nature of incarceration. Early detection of warning signs, such as changes in behavior, mood, or verbal cues, allows jailers to intervene before an attempt occurs. Proper training in suicide prevention equips jailers with the skills to assess risk factors and provide timely support or referral to mental health services. Preventing suicides not only saves lives but also reduces legal liabilities and enhances the overall safety and welfare of the jail population. This proactive approach also helps foster a more humane and responsible correctional system.
This Suicide Detection and Prevention in Jails #3501 online training course is eight (8) hours in length and costs only $45.
With more courses under development, OSS Academy® currently offers both Basic, Intermediate, and 100+ elective TCOLE Peace Officer, Jailer, and Telecommunicator courses online.
