This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Drugs of Abuse Investigations online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
This course identifies and discusses multiple abused drugs and their general effects, and how they are made available for purchase in the United States by illegal means. There are numerous psychoactive drugs that are deemed illegal in the U.S. It is illegal to posses them, distribute them, or manufacture any drugs that can be abused. Psychoactive drugs alter the way the brain takes and uses information. The results can be disastrous! Often, people on drugs are highly unpredictable, even doing things that are entirely out of character. Continuing the use of drugs on a normal basis can result in long term, irreversible effects.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Duty to Intervene - Officer Obligations online training course for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
The culture in many law enforcement agencies discourages officers from speaking up when they see fellow officers inappropriately or unlawfully behaving on the job, even when they have a legal obligation to intervene. Rules that require officers to intervene are known as duty to intervene policies. Although this course details what happened between Derek Chauvin and George Floyd, it is not about Chauvin or Floyd, but rather Officers Thao, Lane, & Kueng who took no action to intervene as Floyd died.
Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive three (3) hours of course credit.

As part of a comprehensive and coordinated response to the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, OSS Academy developed this course about Ebola and other infectious diseases. This is only the first step toward preparing law enforcement to conduct proper and safe responses to such incidents. In conjunction, managers should also collaborate with local public health authorities to develop coordinated plans for the broader response effort required to deal with this deadly disease.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Electronic Control Device - Basics online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
This course is designed as a familiarization, a review, or a refresher. The scope and scale of information regarding Electronic Control Devices (ECD) can be vast and varied, and is legally dynamic. Because electronic control devices are a relatively recent law enforcement innovation, research into the effects of exposure is ongoing, and the legal landscape has been evolving, but lagging in pace with developments.
ECDs are often referred to by various names such as TASERs, CEDs, ECDs, or ECWs, but the applications are generally the same. The vast majority of officers in the U.S. are equipped with products from TASER International, Inc. For that reason, discussions in this course may refer to those products and their incumbent technologies. This course is not a product endorsement. The goal of this course is to provide information that will equip you to safely and effectively use your electronic control device in a defensible manner.
Material in this course is not legal advice. As always, seek legal information and recommendations from your department's legal advisor.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Ethics for Law Enforcement online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
In the study of ethics, it is critical to understand that the motive is as important as the act. When someone refrains from misconduct only because they fear negative repercussions, they cannot really be viewed as ethical. Ethics is concerned with encouraging you to do what you know you should do. It is not only doing the right thing, but also doing it for the right reason. This course will help you by explaining the dynamics of ethics in the law enforcement field, how to better understand the ethical dilemmas of fellow officers, and how to avoid ethical pitfalls yourself.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Evidence Collection, Control, & Storage online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Law enforcement officers, as part of their regular responsibilities, gain possession of types of evidence that vary widely by their very nature. Evidence may include a priceless work of art, the murder victim’s clothing, or even biohazardous materials. Such items of evidence must be held by law enforcement agencies under strict legal constraints and under the control and safekeeping of an evidence custodian from the beginning through the final disposition of the case. Collecting, storing, safekeeping, and managing evidence are serious responsibilities for all officers in any agency, not to mention, the evidence custodian. The failure of agencies to establish effective and efficient systems to gather, manage, and secure evidence has led to civil and criminal charges against officers. Additionally, not maintaining evidence correctly cripples the ability of the criminal justice system to successfully prosecute offenders.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

Overview
This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Exigent Circumstances online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
An often-quoted Supreme Court saying is …Officers are often forced to make split-second judgments in circumstances that are tense, uncertain and rapidly evolving. Most people would probably agree that officers who encounter exigent circumstances should be permitted to do whatever is reasonably necessary to quickly defuse what is confronting them. The courts understand that officers must act quickly when they are facing an emergency, but they impose on officers a duty to act responsibly.
This course is designed to aid you in better understanding the various aspects of exigent circumstances, what is reasonable, and what is allowable and not so in an emergency.
Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit.
